Meet Matt Sugg

Matt Sugg, the Regional Director of Business Development for WPM’s Multifamily Real Estate Division in the MidSouth region, brings a wealth of experience and expertise to his role. Based out of WPM’s Richmond satellite office, Matt's 17 years in the industry have equipped him with a deep understanding of a wide range of property types, including Conventional Value-Add, Luxury Class A Lease-ups, Tax Credit properties, Virginia Housing Development Authority (VHDA) assets, and Senior Living communities.

Before joining WPM, Matt was the owner and principal of J&H Capital, a multifamily real estate consulting and recruitment firm. His work there focused on new construction lease-ups and the rebranding of challenged assets, providing him with valuable insight into the complexities of multifamily real estate. Prior to J&H, Matt held key positions at PRG Real Estate, where he most recently served as Regional Director, overseeing all new developments and acquisitions in the Richmond market. He also played a leadership role at Greystar, focusing on new construction lease-ups and business development in Virginia.

An Industry Leader with Proven Credentials
Matt’s commitment to the multifamily industry is evident in his extensive credentials. He holds the Certified Property Manager (CPM®) designation from the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM), along with the Certified Apartment Manager (CAM) and Certified Apartment Portfolio Supervisor (CAPS) credentials from the National Apartment Association. His active involvement with industry organizations such as IREM Chapter 38 and the Virginia Apartment Management Association (VAMA) highlights his dedication to advancing the field.

In addition to his professional qualifications, Matt has earned multiple Corporate Employee of the Year awards from the Central Virginia Apartment Association (CVAA) in 2019, 2021, and again in 2024—a testament to his leadership and excellence in the industry.

A lifetime resident of Richmond, VA, Matt holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing Management from Virginia Tech. His local roots, combined with his wealth of experience, make him a valuable asset not only to WPM but to the entire MidSouth multifamily real estate market.
